How to get the computer and cvp-301 to work with usb cable?

trying to record music played on the piano directly to the computer via the usb cable. The computer knows when the piano is switched off or on. The computer gives a tone when either thing happens.

Have been trying to use windows vista media player to do this. The only recording so far has been the sound in the room being recieved by the computer's speaker. nothing has gone through the cable.

I did load the driver from the Yamaha cd into the computer and verified in device manager that it is loaded and functional.

Cant transfer song from yamaha dgx 220 to pc

same problem I have a backup file that transferred but cant get to my song. Has anyone figured this out! Your help is greatly appreciated.
