Low mic volume
by: Jess Guy

Sad to say that's just the way it is. I have to crank the mic volume and bring everything else down. One time I had a four-track recorder I was using and ran the mic through that first and then to the keyboard and was able to get a little gain (amplification) out of the tape deck. The mic Yamaha recommends seemed cheap and had crappy specs but maybe that's just what it wants in terms of impedance matching. I'm using a Shure SM58 - "Old Faithful"
