Hooking up Yamaha PSR-293 Keyboard to Fruity Loops 7

Could u plz tell me how to hook up the PSR-293 to Fruity Loops? I hook up the keyboard to the USB port but its not recongizing it. Do I have to install software for the keyboard first or should the cpu recognize the keyboard automatically?
