Getting an FC4 pedal to sustain on an MO8

by Zachary
(Tomball, Texas, USA)

I feel like such an idiot for having to ask this, but what do I have to do on my MO8 to get my FC4 pedal to sustain on the regular piano setting? I've tried everything I could think of and there is still no effect when I push the pedal down. It is plugged in to the proper jack on the MO8 (the Foot Switch jack) like it's supposed to, and both the keyboard and pedal are new. Could it be that I have a defective pedal? Please respond as quickly as possible (and apologies for asking a question about something that seems so simple; this is my first full-fledged keyboard).

FC 4 Pedal
by: Alfred

Dear Zachary: Don't be so hard on yourself. Many other mewmbers have posed the same question. I'm not familiar with either the Mo8 or the FC4, but offer the following suggestions.
First the easy one; Sustain Pedal. a) Insert your pedal into its Jack BEFORE TURNING YOUR KEYBOARD ON. b) Be sure you do not press the pedal until you are ready to play. If this does not work, check the housing of the pedal for a switch which may have to be flipped to correct a "reverse polarity" situation. Some keyboards have a button/control which accesses "Polarity" to do the same thing. Don't hesitate to get back to us if you need further help. If you determine the keyboard or the pedal is defective be sure to take advantage of the warranty for exchanges. More importantly, if all works out, you owe us your continued support with questions/comments which benefit all members. Good luck and keep well.
