fingered chords

by Judy
(Wilmington, NC)

I have a new Yamaha PSR-E313 keyboard.
My question is: How can you use fully fingered chords (with the left hand) and still have background accompaniment? Or to put it another way, what is the advantage of learning and using fully fingered chords -with auto accompaniment turned on, the sound is the same, whether using a 1-finger chord or a fully fingered chord... ?
Please help clear up my confusion!
Thanks,
Judy

Single Finger vs Full Fingered Chording
by: Alfred

Dear Judy: I'm no expert, and I have been using the "Single" Finger method of chording for some time. I have also started (trying) use of Full Fingered chording. If you have compared the two methods you will find that there is a considerable difference, the latter being fuller and richer in tone. Furthermore, some keyboards "adjust" the background accompaniment in keeping with the method used. If you haven't yet made the comparison, try it out and have fun!
