External Battery Power suppy adapter

by Ellis
(San Diego, CA)

I have a PA70 Yamaha Stage Piano ,I want to find where to buy a way to hook up a battery 12V TO my keyboard so I can play it outdoors where no AC power is available. Anyone know where I can find something like this?

External Battery Power Supply
by: Alfred

Dear Ellis: I may be wrong, but I believe Yamaha designates "PA" only to their "P"-ower "A"-daptors. Is it possible that your instrument is a P 70, released by Yamaha in 2005? I am not familiar with the model and it would be helpful to know how it is energized for play. Is it a direct-to-house-mains system? If it is, then there probably is an internal rectifier converting the current from Ac to Dc, and you would have to access that circuit for modification. I WOULD NOT EVEN ATTEMPT THAT ROUTE!!! I?m limited in my technical knowledge and offer the following as a possibility: On the other hand, if your unit has a port (usually on the rear panel) for a Dc (12 vdc Adaptor) feed, you probably could rig up a feed with Rechargeable Batteries (which would entail re-charging every-once-in-a-while with an appropriate Charger). The lead from the batteries would have a Plug corresponding to the accepting port of the unit, but you must first ASCERTAIN THE NECESSARY AMPERAGE REQUIRED BY THE UNIT. The current should match the demands of the Keyboard, or you may have bad results. Good luck.
