Connecting Yamaha CLP330 to MacBook

Hi,

I have a Yamaha CLP330 and I want to record from the clavinova to garageband, a music software program on my MacBook. I have no idea which cables I need. Today I went in search and although I thought I perhaps needed the microphone one I was assured I needed a USB-A Male to USA-B Male, but it does not work. Does anyone know how I can connect them. Help much appreciated as I have to submit a recording soon:) Thank you.

USB-MIDI Driver for Mac OS X

Okay, so I solved the problem thanks to downloading the correct driver from the yamahasynth.com site. http://www.yamahasynth.com/downloads/drivers_software/stage_pianos/cp300/driver/

Hooked up my CLP-330 to MacBook using my printer cable (USB-A Male to USB-B Male cable) and started garage band.

Just posting in case it's useful for someone else:)

still no sound

Angela,
thanks for the link to the driver, which I downloaded onto my macbook. I connected up my CLP330 and Garageband seems to recognise that a midi device is connected. However I get no sound conveyed from the keyboard to the computer and Garageband doesn't seem to take any notice of my keyboard. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi David W,

When you use garage band you also have to make sure that it is a new software track. Then it should recognize the keyboard.
