How do I connect to Windows pc? do I need to install programs on the pc?

Windows XP and lower

To connect a p-80 to a windows PC you need a "to host" - MIDI-Cable.

The driver for older windows versions (up to WinXP) is available under http://www.yamahaproaudio.com/downloads/firm_soft/midi_driver/cbx.html

When you read this there might be the chance that the driver was already adapted for Windows Vista or Windows 7.

yamaha P-80 midi to usb connection

Hi Philipp,

Im trying to connect my yamaha P-80 to my Windows XP computer using a MIDI to usb-cable (E-MU midi1x1 Tab), not very successfull this far. Your comment is very clear, "use a to host-MIDI cable". Do you know if it's also possible to make the connection with the cable I have?
