Clavinova CLP-500 - no sound

In the middle of the piano being played there was a muffled bang sound and suddenly no sound, although the power was getting into the piano, as indicated by the red 'on' light. What has caused this? Is there a fuse inside the piano that I could replace? There was no interruption to the electricity supply or surge at the time.
Thanks
M Davie

Yamaha CLP 500

Dear M: While i'm not familiar with your Unit, I believe it's a "stand up" piano type which is plugged directly to an outlet, with no external adaptor required. If so, it is very likely that there is an internal Fuse which has blown. Such failures occur from time to time. I'm also not familiar with the owner's manual which you might have. Is there nothing mentioned in the manual?
I usually recommend not trying any DIY approach (unless of course the manual says to the contrary).IN ANY CASE, MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG THE UNIT FREOM THE WALL OUTLET BEFORE ANY FIDDLING.

TECH

The clp500 is a standup piano. A fuse would not solve the problem if it is switching on.Let a tech troubleshoot and he would probably find that the audio chip is defective. It is mounted on a separate board.

Yamaha Clavinova CLP-500 Thanks for your suggestions

Many thanks, Alfie & Alfred for your quick response. The manual certainly contains nothing which would shed light on what's gone wrong and has no trouble-shooting section either. I will pursue the audio chip malfunction line initially.
