Booting problem in Yamaha Tyros 2

by satish sharma
(new delhi, India)

Hi everybody!

I’ve a problem-- My Yamaha Tyros2 is out of warranty now and on booting it gets stuck on “Tyros2” for much longer (for a few minutes) before it boots finally and the other lights light up. It’s giving me the jitters at my gigs. A flagship model giving such problems! Fortunately, I have a PSR-S-900 (though its no match) which I use for programming and have now started taking out as a standby—just in case!!!!
Now is this a virus? Or software problem? In Delhi where i live, dealers, after selling, are not interested in liabilities like “after-sales-service” Can someone suggest a solution?

booting problem
by: Dick Rector

Hi,

I take it you know how to do a 'mild' reset and a factory 'out of the box' reset.
You problem could be (I am only guessing!!) overloaded internal memory.
Just in case you are going to try it:
BACKUP everything you have in user areas first.
Like songs, external styles and voices, multipads and registrations etc.

Mild reset: (By the way, I do that every time I start up my keyboard!)That just cleans everything in the temporary memory and not in the user areas.
Hold down the highest white key and than power up the KBoard.
If that doesn't solve the problem do a factory reset:
That cleans everything in all the accessible memory including users areas and brings the keyboard back (hopefully) as it came out of the factory.
Hold down the highest white key + the nearest 3 black keys and than power up the keyboard.
I hope this solves the problem.
Don't worry, the original styles and voices etc. can NOT be deleted, they are in 'fixed' memory and will be available even after a factory reset.

booting problem with T2
by: Anonymous

Thanks a ton Dick!

I'm going to try it today. I'm sorry i couldn't look up this site as my house is under renovation and i have just replugged my computer and internet---your answer is a pleasant surprise and should hopefully solve my problem. I do have a hard disk in it which goes on and off. I stopped using it as it was playing hide and seek--could that be causing the problem and should i remove it?. The pen drives are much handier. Within the keyboard, i have hardly saved anything--so the memory should not be overloaded. I'll get back to you after system reset

mild reset worked
by: Anonymous

Thanks Dick!

The mild reset worked-- my keyboard is fine now. I could finally do it yesterday night as this month was full of home renovation and holidays--as i didn't let the former get in the way of the latter.

Thanks again--my heart attacks should be over
now.

Satish
